Calendar Form
Thoughts and To-Do List
Dive Sites
- Should we make GPS coordinates a mandatory entry on the form for adding a Dive Site? I would think this would discourage entering of new dive sites, maybe some sort of obnoxious message at the top that the site needs a GPS link? Yea, but if it doesn't have a GPS point it won't show on a map... But having an entry that needs to be completed may be worthwhile from an informational standpoint. I don't know...
- Need to redo temps from avg to a summer avg and a winter avg. - Done
- Now have a summer temp and winter temp
- Now have a top depth and bottom depth and changed description to Average depth range.
- Changed description to current/surge, but property is still Site_current. May change property name, undecided.
Calendar
- Data points for calendar items
- Template for calendar items - Pretty sure that a javascript popup box to make this easy is out. I'll have to look at just input boxes to allow someone to enter day, month, year.
I should have some time tomorrow (Tues) to look at this.Fixed. Kind of. I had to add the SemanticFormsInputs extension for the java pop up box to work. Click on the Add An Event link on the main menu, add a name and you'll see 2 examples. Now we need to figure out how to allow multi-date events to be added...I had added SemanticFormsInput, I didn't have my forms and such setup properly which turns out why it wasn't working on my site, grrrr. I spent 4 hours on that yesterday.
Semantic
- Why do queries only update when the page is refreshed? Is SMW writing its results to a table instead of being dynamic? If so, we need to get bots running that will update pages. I can't even get my latest dive entry site to show up on the front page at all, regardless of refresh. Took two saves to get the GPS coords working for the site at all (bogus test site) - http://www.thescubawiki.com/Lake_Nowhere_Test Yea, I know what's up. Remember an earlier comment about 1000 calendar entries? Well, that applies to map entries as well. I've surpassed 1000 map points, before your test entry.
I'll get this fixed tomorrow.Fixed. Maps (and calendars) will display up to 10000 items from a single query. Look into caching on MediaWiki. Found a comment researching something else that lead me to that statement. Follow up later. - More user friendly method of querying
- Other data points we want to capture for other subjects?
- Need to install ParserFunctions extension, unless it already is.

Graphics/logos/skins
- I like the standard wikipedia skin, although we could look at options. Look at wikipedia and see what skins are available. If others are, then it should be assumed that users must be using them, and we'd want to offer the same abilities
- Need to work up some logo concepts - I like a wireframe earth, with a dive flag in the background, and maybe a few pins showing dive sites??? Maybe a rotating earth and/or waving flag??? Don't want to get too large a file, though.
- Could a flash document be inserted as the logo? Could handle the above concept with a smaller file size If at all possible I'd stay away from flash
- Slogans for the site?
